GENERAL GUIDELINES
Welcome to your Clerkship in GENERAL PSYCHIATRY.

You have been scheduled by Graduate Medical Consultants at Atlanta Medical Center or other 3rd party to start your Psychiatry rotation at PACT ATLANTA, LLC.

You are required to read this manual and complete the student information sheet.

You must also submit the evaluation form from your school within the first week of this rotation. You may ask GMC staff for a copy of the evaluation form. Make sure to complete the student section of the evaluation form.

Submit an updated copy of your Curriculum Vitae.

Return the manual, information sheet, curriculum vitae, and evaluation form to Dr. Andy Griffiths, Practice Administrator.

Contact the Medical Staff office at Dekalb Medical Center (404-501-7720) to make sure you are approved to start your rotation. GMC students have already been cleared.

II. MEDICAL STUDENT SECTION

MEDICAL STUDENT SECTION

The General Psychiatry Rotation is a total of 6 weeks.

It is required by GMC to attend Grand Rounds at least twice a month during the Psychiatry rotation at Atlanta Medical Center, 285 Boulevard N.E., Suite 436, Atlanta, Georgia 30312.

You must report in advance what day of the week you have Grand Rounds at Atlanta Medical Center. Note that Grand Rounds are once a week in the afternoons and the day varies from week to week.

You will be working at 2 different locations with Dr. Todd Antin:

         1. This office (PACT ATLANTA, LLC): 465 Winn Way, Suite 221, Decatur, GA          30338. The phone number is (404) 292-3810.

         2. Dekalb Medical Center—2701 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30333. The phone number is (404) 501-1800 for the Behavioral Health Unit (1800 Unit) on Winn Way.

As a medical student, you are expected to:
         1. Take full histories & do physical exams in the office & hospital.
         2. Learn & assist in office procedures.
         3. Find out what is the schedule for the week.
         4. Be prepared for special cases (read and research topic, meds, etc).
         5. Assist in the office with whatever the staff needs.
         6. Always be on time and call if there are any problems.
         7. Write prescriptions and have them ready for Dr. Antin’s signature.
         8. Follow all HIPAA confidentiality rules and guidelines for patient          confidentiality.

GENERAL HOSPITAL RULES & GUIDELINES

Dekalb Medical Center

         1. Student ID is required. You must wear your AMC badge at all times. Dekalb          Medical does not provide a student ID. Please do not ask for a hospital ID.          They only provide ID’s to employees and residents.
         2. You must also wear your ID in the office.
         3. Wear your lab coat at all times.
         4. Be friendly and polite to the staff. Present yourself and state that you are a          medical student training with Dr. Antin.
         5. You are learning now, so it is okay to ask questions. In fact, we encourage          you to ask questions and be an active learner in your own clinical training.
         6. Park by Dr. Antin’s office building and walk across to the hospital or you          can get a yellow parking pass from Dr. Antin at the Behavioral Unit. Enter the          hospital through the Behavioral Unit entrance. For in-patient go to the 1st          floor. The elevator code is 1898#. Press the code first and then press the up          key to go to 1st floor. Once in the elevator, you must press the code again for          the elevator to go up or down. Please keep the code confidential. Remember          the importance of confidentiality.
