EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
is an another excellent psychotherapy treatment designed
to alleviate the pain and suffering of those individuals
who have experienced severe trauma in their lives. This
treatment combines the aspects of many different psychotherapeutic
philosophies and is practiced only by those counselors
specially trained in this area. During EMDR the client
attends to past and present experiences in brief sequential
doses while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus.
The goal is to reduce the chronic emotional distress
connected to the re-living of previous traumatic experiences.
